The women carried spices to anoint the body of Jesus. Surprisingly, they found the stone rolled away from the entrance. Angels announced to them: He is risen --- He is not here. The women were amazed. They were afraid. They ran from the place!
There were many sightings of Jesus after His resurrection. Those who saw told others, but they were met with unbelief. He even appeared to the eleven as they were eating a meal. Jesus told them to go into all the world and preach the Gospel to all creation.
The church still has the commission to take the Gospel to the whole world. His Spirit works in us and through us to accomplish this mission.
How have you filled this command personally?
Lord, the good news of the Gospel has been hard to believe from the beginning. Bless me with the faith to share this good news with others and not be discouraged when I'm met with unbelief. Forgive me for the times I've failed to share the Message out of fear. Continue to grow my faith beyond the fear and fill me with the joy of Your salvation.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation,
and uphold me with a willing spirit.
Then I will teach transgressors your ways,
and sinners will return to you.
