The Challenge -- Day 148

Today's Scripture: John 8:31-47
[Do you know where your Bible is? Click the reference to read online.]

Jesus had some hard words for church people. Remember, He wasn't preaching to unbelievers, He was teaching those who called themselves Believers. He said if they didn't believe Him, their father was the devil and not God.

Those who are entrenched in the world cannot bear God's Word, even if they are regular church-goers. It makes them lash out in homicidal rage against the truth ...but now you seek to kill Me, a man who has told you the truth..."

God's Word reveals where our allegiance lies: with the world or Him.

"... Whoever is of God hears the words of God. .."
John 8:47

How do you receive His Word? does it humble? convict? or does it anger? enrage?
Do you seek to follow it even if you have to die to self? or do you put aside what does not sit well with your sensibilities?

Lord, this is a hard truth that if I don't believe and obey Your Word,
I am an offspring of the devil. Help me to see and receive the truth
as only Your Word reveals. Your Word is truth.

I believe, help my unbelief!
Mark 9:24 ESV
