Beyond the Gospels: Corinthians

Today's Reading: 1 Corinthians 5

Paul doesn't seem too happy at this point. In fact, he sounds a bit angry. It seems there is something terrible going on in the Corinthian church, and no one is speaking up. Paul has heard that not only are they allowing it... they are proud of it. Sin has entered the building and instead of repentance there's boasting.

The world is good at boasting about sin. Just turn on your television or read the headlines and you'll see. We are not called to judge what's happening out there in the world. We are called to be the light. A light that shines in the darkness of sin and brings others to the one who washes away all sin.

Lord Jesus, bless me with grace for the world, the kind that draws hearts to You. And in the same way, bless me with the proper judgment for my brothers and sisters in Christ, the kind that turns their hearts back to You. Use me to bring light and pour out grace to both the world and Your Church.
