If you were someone in the vineyard, who would you be? Would you be the landowner... first hired or last? Would you grumble at the unfairness of it all?
Do you find yourself comparing circumstances in your life to others? Do you strive to make everything fair? Why? In light of this scripture, how do you think God approaches fairness?
Lord, sometimes Your ways seem unfair,
but never let me begrudge Your generosity.
I never want to be ungrateful for what You've done for me
or others.
For I know that the Lord is great,
and that our Lord is above all gods.
Whatever the Lord pleases, he does,
in heaven and on earth,
in the seas and all the deeps.
