Songs of Praise: Psalm 74

Read Psalm 74 today.
(Click on the link to read the Scripture.)

We are given no signs from God;
no prophets are left,
and none of us knows how long this will be.
Psalm 74:9

Are you waiting on a sign, wondering if or when God will speak to you? Do you too think, How long will this be?

The writer of this psalm seems to be pleading with God to move on his behalf. I've been there. Wishing God would swoop in and do something. Begging God to change something, fix something, at least defend me in some way.

There are seasons when God doesn't speak, times when it feels like our prayers are hitting the floor... not being heard. These are lonely times.

Remember, it is only a season.

There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
And God never leaves us alone. The truth is God has our best interest at heart. He knows what we need and when we need it.

Faith is believing God has our best interest at heart when it feels like He is not speaking, not moving. When the season feels long and we find ourselves asking, "How long Lord will this continue?" remember, it is for but a time.

Father God, bless me with the faith to trust You
during difficult seasons and to see Your hand
in seasons of blessing.
May I never forget Your presence
and be thankful.
