Beyond the Gospels: Ephesians

Today's Scripture: Ephesians 4:1-16

...you were called to one hope...
Ephesians 4:4

Hope is a cherished desire we wait for with anticipation.

What do you hope for?
financial security?
physical well-being?
close relationships?
successful children?
emotional stability?
comfort?

People hope for many different things in the world.
But those in Christ Jesus are called to one hope.

The hope of salvation through Jesus Christ, which includes:
The hope of the resurrection.
The hope of His return to put all things right.
The hope of His perfect judgment.
The hope of eternal life with Him in His Kingdom.

The one hope we are called to is not found in the things of this world. It is a spiritual hope more real than anything found on this earth.

As Believers in Jesus Christ, we are all called to one hope.

If you have misplaced hope, you will be disappointed. For the things of this world will pass away. The eternal hope, the One Hope, is only found in Jesus.

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.
Colossians 3:2-3 NIV84

Father God, reveal where I have misplaced hope.
Set my heart and mind on the One Hope:
Jesus Christ.
