...she who is self-indulgent is dead even while she lives.
1 Timothy 5:1-11

This verse specifically talks about widows, but I believe it's easily extrapolated to everyone. Self-indulgence seems to be the order of the day when it comes to our life and times. Selfies. Self-defined truth. Self-defined gender. Self-seeking happiness. Self-help. Self-promoting social media. God's Word tells us this is no way to live. When we live self-absorbed, we might as well be dead.

"Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life
for my sake will find it." ---Jesus
Matthew 10:39 ESV

True life. True satisfaction. True contentment. Is only found in Christ Jesus.

Believing in your head that He is Lord is not real belief. Laying down your life for His is. Living life seeking Him. His Way. His Truth. Is how we truly live as Believers.

"...I came that they may have life and have it abundantly...." --- Jesus
John 10:10 ESV

Have you experienced the truth of Jesus's words? Are you living abundantly? Or do you feel dead inside? unsatisfied? tired? complacent?

If you aren't living a full life in Him, maybe it's time for some self-examination. Maybe it's time to ask Him to show you where you have been led astray from the Truth. Self-deceived.

We only get lost when we try to find ourselves.
We only find our true selves when we get lost in Jesus.

Father God, forgive me for my self-indulgence.
Open my heart to You and Your Way.
Teach me to seek Jesus and indulge Him in all I do.
